Camp NaNoWriMo April 2017 giveaway – Win a book critique of your NaNoWriMo project worth $500/£400/€450!

Camp NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) April commences in just 10 days! A little different from the November NaNo, Camp NaNoWriMo invites all kinds of word count goals, and all kinds of writing projects.

To celebrate Camp NaNoWriMo April, I am giving away a FREE book critique of a manuscript or selection of short stories worth at least $500/£400/€450 to April Campers.

Is this giveaway for me?

Do you write in English or Dutch? Did you or are you going to sign up for Camp NaNoWriMo April 2017? Are you going to write or revise a novel length manuscript or an a selection of short stories? Then, yes.

What can I win?

A book critique of your manuscript/selection of short stories worth $500/£400/€450 or more, depending on the length of your project.

A book critique will get you an overall assessment of aspects including plot, characters, structure, pace, voice, audience, and setting, and the story as a whole, as well as advice on how to improve these aspects. If you want to know whether you are writing a promising story, a book critique is the way to go in that it is really the first step in the editing process. A book critique does not include any copy or line editing.

How do I enter the giveaway?

  1. Sign up to my mailing list. Make sure to provide both your first and last name.
  2. Tell me about your plans for this NaNoWriMo by leaving a comment on this post. (Don’t forget this step, or I’ll assume you are a ‘regular’ subscriber!)

Already signed up to my mailing list? Perfect, just continue with step 2.

Until when can I enter the giveaway?

You can enter until the 30th of April, midnight GMT.

I didn’t hit my goal. Am I still eligible?

No worries. Depending on your post-NaNoWriMo plans, I either wait for you to finish your project or I edit the words you did write or revise during April.

What happens if I win the drawing but I’ve quit my project?

Again, no worries. Let me know a.s.a.p. that you did so I can draw another winner.

What if my project exceeds 50K words?

The giveaway is worth at least $500/£400/€450, which is based on 50K words. If you wrote more, the giveaway is simply worth more.

When will I hear whether I’ve won?

I will draw a winner on the first of May and announce the winner via Facebook and email.

  1. This sounds great! I’m working on a series of short stories. Primarily dystopian YA romance.

Dystopian YA romance sounds fab! Thanks for entering the giveaway and signing up to my mailing list, Niamh!

  2. I’ve got an idea of what could end up being a Fantasy trilogy. Based on the Faolabh, or Irish werewolf, and the Morrigan.

    1. Author

That sounds great, Desiree 🙂 I love stories based on old myths, and fantasy trilogies 😉 Good luck!

  3. This is just what I need! I’ll be revising my steampunk novella, and I’d love to have a set of professional eyes on it.

Thanks for signing up, Martina 🙂 And good luck with the revision!

  4. I am about to finish the outline to the second book in my adventure series and want to write at least the first 70k words during April.

    1. Author

70k… Good luck, Peter 🙂 I’m assuming this isn’t your first NaNo?

  5. I am 20K words into my … not sure if it’s dystopian but I suppose aliens mean scifi … novel. I am hoping to get another 50k or more words written during the camp.

    1. Author

I’d be interesting to see you write a novel with aliens that isn’t scifi, sounds like a good challenge 😉 Good luck with camp!

  6. First of six books about a group of young adult superheroes, all either the children or grandchildren of heroes or villains. Aiming for about 55,000 words, and hope to eventually turn it into a live-action TV series.

    1. Author

I love that idea, them being the children of grandchildren of heroes or villains! Good luck!

  7. I am writing a novel that could well be described as a mystery/suspense.

Thanks for entering, Sobia! Great genre to write 🙂 How’s your NaNo doing?

  8. My camp nano project is a epic fantasy that is basically Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in a harem.

  9. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity! I’m glad to be getting to know you regardless!

    1. Author

Thank you! And yes, we definitely need to keep the conversation going 🙂

  10. I’m working on finishing up my fantasy/romance novel, aiming for another 35,000 words, or however much it takes to complete the story.

    1. Author

Thanks for entering, Autumn. Is this a standalone novel, or a series?

  11. I’m continuing work on a YA fantasy piece about a guardian of the multiverse who offers to make amends for his mistakes. He ends up on Earth, powerless and in the body of a cat. I expect it to be about 60k. Only about halfway through and needing a lot of editing once done.

    1. Author

Super, Chris! YA fantasy is the genre I write in myself, so, naturally, I’m more than curious 🙂

  12. I have a novel I’d very much like critiqued. I’d like to self-publish it the Smarter Artist way, but don’t have the extra money to pay for editors. It is a “gritty realism” tale about a washed-up and liberal punk rocker from LA who has moved to Kentucky for work. He is fighting to win back his love and his career.
Please consider me for the edits.

    1. Author

Hi Steven, I put your name down for the draw! Fingers crossed 🙂

  13. Author

The lucky winner is Desiree Donohue!

Thank you all for participating, and maybe see you in July!
