Happy New Year, everyone! To all the words that will be written, edited, cut, and rewritten in 2018!
As I was going over 2017 in the past few days, and was pondering the things I want to keep doing in 2018, one of the recurring themes was the wish to keep giving back to the community as much as I can. As you all know, I always organise a giveaway around the National Novel Writing Months, but last November, I couldn’t do it. Not only had I already committed to the Advanced Novel Writing with Harry Potter Special Offer organised by The World Needs Your Books, but I was also spent. I had taken on so much work in the months preceding NaNoWriMo—and I’m utterly grateful that I got to work on so many brilliant projects, don’t get me wrong!—and I was done. Finished. I couldn’t even complete my own NaNoWriMo goal, let alone take on more work by organising a giveaway.
But… after a week in the sun, and a month of taking it slow, I’m back. Re-energised, looking forward to what 2018 will bring, and ready to give back again!
To celebrate the start of what promises to be quite the rollercoaster—if I have to believe my yoga teacher, and she tends to be right about stuff like this—I am giving away a FREE full developmental edit.
Is this giveaway for me?
Do you write fiction or nonfiction? Are you planning on finishing a manuscript in the coming 12 months? Then yes!
What can I win?
A full developmental edit of your fiction or nonfiction manuscript.
A full developmental edit is a content edit that helps you develop every single aspect of your manuscript. For fiction, this includes plot, characters, structure, pace, voice, audience, and setting. For nonfiction, this includes outline, arguments, examples, structure, pace, voice, and audience. It points out larger issues while zooming in on every little detail.
A full developmental edit will get you two separate documents. The first document will contain my overall assessment and advice on the story as a whole, including strengths and weaknesses. The second document will contain your work including extensive comments, suggestions, and track changes on all aspects of your manuscript.
How do I enter the giveaway?
- Sign up to my email list.
- Tell me a little something about your manuscript by leaving a comment on this post or emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you want your name added to the draw more than once, please:
For every like or follow, your name will be added to the draw. If you already like and follow me in every way possible, just remind me and I’ll add your name to the draw for every one of them.
Until when can I sign up for the giveaway?
You can sign up until the 31st of January, midnight GMT.
I didn’t finish my manuscript in 2018. Am I still eligible?
No worries. Depending on my schedule, I either wait for you to finish your manuscript or I edit the part you did finish.
What happens if I win the drawing but I’ve quit my manuscript?
Again, no worries. Let me know a.s.a.p. that you did so I can draw another winner.
When will I hear whether I’ve won?
I will draw a winner on the first of February and will let you know via e-mail. I will also announce the winner through my various social media channels.
