Happy New Year, everyone! To all the words that will be written, edited, cut, and rewritten in 2018!
As I was going over 2017 in the past few days, and was pondering the things I want to keep doing in 2018, one of the recurring themes was the wish to keep giving back to the community as much as I can. As you all know, I always organise a giveaway around the National Novel Writing Months, but last November, I couldn’t do it. Not only had I already committed to the Advanced Novel Writing with Harry Potter Special Offer organised by The World Needs Your Books, but I was also spent. I had taken on so much work in the months preceding NaNoWriMo—and I’m utterly grateful that I got to work on so many brilliant projects, don’t get me wrong!—and I was done. Finished. I couldn’t even complete my own NaNoWriMo goal, let alone take on more work by organising a giveaway.
But… after a week in the sun, and a month of taking it slow, I’m back. Re-energised, looking forward to what 2018 will bring, and ready to give back again!
To celebrate the start of what promises to be quite the rollercoaster—if I have to believe my yoga teacher, and she tends to be right about stuff like this—I am giving away a FREE full developmental edit.
Is this giveaway for me?
Do you write fiction or nonfiction? Are you planning on finishing a manuscript in the coming 12 months? Then yes!
What can I win?
A full developmental edit of your fiction or nonfiction manuscript.
A full developmental edit is a content edit that helps you develop every single aspect of your manuscript. For fiction, this includes plot, characters, structure, pace, voice, audience, and setting. For nonfiction, this includes outline, arguments, examples, structure, pace, voice, and audience. It points out larger issues while zooming in on every little detail.
A full developmental edit will get you two separate documents. The first document will contain my overall assessment and advice on the story as a whole, including strengths and weaknesses. The second document will contain your work including extensive comments, suggestions, and track changes on all aspects of your manuscript.

I didn’t finish my manuscript in 2018. Am I still eligible?
No worries. Depending on my schedule, I either wait for you to finish your manuscript or I edit the part you did finish.
What happens if I win the drawing but I’ve quit my manuscript?
Again, no worries. Let me know a.s.a.p. that you did so I can draw another winner.
When will I hear whether I’ve won?
I will draw a winner on the first of February and will let you know via e-mail. I will also announce the winner through my various social media channels.
The synopsis for my novel: Allie Fox has moved back to Coastal Carolina to care for her autistic brother after her parents died in an accident. She had hoped to focus on caring for Ryan and acclimating to her new life, but when the yard foreman meets with an untimely fatal accident at work, she can’t help but be pulled into the mystery, risking not only her livelihood but her life. Was Ty Guthrie in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was something more sinister at play? Can Allie figure it out before danger finds her, or even Ryan?
Sounds great, Anna! Thanks for entering the draw 🙂
I’m in the middle of a romance. Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I can use all the help I can get.
After her grandmother’s death, Starr inherits the farm. She plans to sell it quickly and get out of town before anyone notices her. But, it’s harder to say goodbye to the house, and it’s happy memories than she thought. In the small town, it doesn’t take long before she runs into her high school sweetheart, Angus. Starr hasn’t seen Angus since she ran away from him on prom night.
Slowly, Starr and Angus forgive each other, and themselves.
Just when Starr thinks her life might come together her estranged mother shows up looking for their share of Gran’s inheritance.
Will Starr run away again or will she stay and run the farm with Angus’ help?
Hi Kristin, thanks for entering! Great synopsis 🙂 (please tell me she’s staying with Angus?)

Thanks for entering, Shirley! Just to make sure, did you sign up to my newsletter as well?
Hi! And thanks for the chance. This is my first manuscript and it’s almost complete. It’s about 90,000 words and it’s a Romance about a woman who was raped in college and 4 years later falls in love with her boss.
Hi Jeanmarie, welcome and thanks for entering!
First time writer, started in NaNoWriMo last year, I’m about 80% done. Need help, never shared writing with anyone else! Setting is at the end of the Viking Age in Denmark. The monarchy and Christian church grow in power even as the old ways and oral traditions hold fast to hearts. A young woman returns home after many years spent in a German Christian abbey. She is a chieftain’s daughter, but an orphan, making her social status tenuous, particularly as an unmarried noble woman. She rejects the social pressure to pursue marriage and instead seeks to be respected for her skills in falconry.
I did a major rewrite last year so now I’m back down to about 90% done with the manuscript. Need to know if it was worth it!
High Fantasy meets spy thriller, as a young woman must infiltrate the household of the crown prince as a concubine to investigate a potential coup against the emperor. Azhar must dodge the verbal and literal daggers of the Rose Palace as she teases out the secrets of Prince Kaveh’s past, including one secret that could destroy the foundations of the empire.
Hi Morgann, thanks for entering! Just make sure to confirm your subscription to my list (that email has a tendency to end up in people’s spam filters…) if you haven’t already done so, and I’ll add you to the draw! Good luck!
